Almost every installer we've spoken to tells the same story if they've ever tried to set up a remote view on a CCTV system. The DVR suppliers' technical team will only offer advice if you use one specific make / type of router, yet in the real world this is rarely possible because most customers will already have their own router installed and configured for Internet access and their own Local Area Network. Consequently, the technical team aren't familiar with the router and are unable to help. Conversely, if you phone the routers' technical team they will only advise on the router and not be able to help with the CCTV side - sound familiar?? The net result is you don't offer the service to the customer or worst case you lose the installation job.

Many customers have asked us if their CCTV systems will work on a non static/dynamic ip address (this is when the customers IP address changes on a regular basis making it difficult to keep track of the correct address to log in with). Well in short this is not a problem as we can set your client up with a dynamic host name that will track the IP address. This service is charged at £5 per month or £50 per annum, and most of our clients charge this to the end user at a profit
At last you can with full confidence include this service, charge for it, use it to 'close the deal', or make money from it by revisiting previously installed systems - its all up to you - you don't even have to let your customer know it's us doing it.
